The Southern zone of the country is characterized by its leafy temperate forests,
which are unique in the world. There, you can find a great quantity of birds,
among which we can highlight Rinocriptids, like the Chucao Tapaculo (Scelorchilus
rubecula) and the Black-throated Huet-Huet (Pteroptochos tarnii).
We could also find marine birds, such as the Coscoroba Swan (Coscoroba
coscoroba) and the Black-necked Swan (Cygnus melancoryphus).
We will leave early from Temuco to the Conguillio National Park, where you will be able to watch birds such as the Bicoloured Hawk (Accipiter bicolor), the Andean Condor and the Magellanic Woodpecker (Campephilus magellanicus). Accommodation in the park.
We will carry on visiting this wonderful park looking for birds, and at the end of the day we will go back to Temuco. Accommodation in Temuco.
We will leave early to Valdivia. In the afternoon we will go to the Río Cruces Sanctuary, where we will have a trekking in the ever-green forests of the area, looking for the main birds of the place. We will lodge in Valdivia.
Early in the morning we will sail on the rivers of this lovely sanctuary, looking for native and exotic birds such as the Black--necked Swan (Cygnus melancoryphus), the Coscoroba Swan (Coscoroba coscoroba), the Osprey (Pandion haliaetus) and a great variety of ducks. We will end our trip after lunch.
