This
place is full of life forms, from insects to big mammals. It is a good spot
for birdwatching and for discovering marine birds like Humboldt Penguins,
Guanay Cormorants, Peruvian Boobies and the endemic seaside cincloides, Moustached
Turcas, White-Throated Tapaculos and the magnificent Giant Hummingbird, which
nests in this area. It is an island located a few meters from the coast, which
gives you a unique opportunity of observing these magnificent marine mammals.
It is also possible to observe other marine mammals like the "chungungos"
or sea otters, which are very common in this place.
We will be leaving Santiago at 8:00 am, and we will arrive at 10:00 am. We will start an easy trekking to the sea lions' island, which is 100 meters from the shore. After that, we will have lunch close to a "puquen", an amazing water phenomenon. After lunch, we will move to Cachagua, to the Penguins' Island, where hundreds of these birds nest. Arriving at Santiago at 7:00 PM.
